Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within the urban setting.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.

Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.

The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team access places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to form the Seekers and Planners groups.

Viewers can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
